Santo Domingo

The capital of the country, was the first settlement of Europeans in the Americas and the administrative center of the first Spanish colony in the New World. With a population of about 3 million, Santo Domingo is today the industrial, commercial and financial center of the country. The tomb of Christopher Columbus is located in this city.
